7 Bow Shooting Tips For Long Range Accuracy

I’ve always found long distance practice as a confidence booster. Accurately hitting the mark at 60-80 yards as always helped boost my confidence  when it comes to shooting whitetail deer at 20-40 yards. But practice at longer distances will benefit you far beyond building your confidence,it will lay a foundation,a ground work where you can develop and strengthen your archery skill. Let me take you on a trip on how to become a predator whether in the woods or any archery event you find yourself.

STANCE:

The Stance very important, it is the driving force to perfection. Meaning it is the foundation you build all your archery skill on. take Martial Art for example, every Art has a stance like Kenpo, Tai Chi and many others, the same principle applies to bow hunting.

Whatever you do, no matter the skill you may possess, do not forget to perfect each and every stance in archery, as i said it is the foundation in archery. shooting from a far distance the stance required to game your game  are explained, do not put your foot close to each other, doing so will cause imbalance, but Instead, shoot with your foot apart from each other.

If your purpose is to actually game your target at long distance, then you have to improvise by practicing like a hunter( no elk will see you standing like that with your bow and not run ). from experience i recommend putting your feet together while kneeling down and your butt resting on your heels. This stance creates a solid balance while shooting, my hunting group and I regularly use this stance and has worked wonders.

GRIP:

There is a difference between having a grip and having a good grip. It is necessary because it will be the deciding factor between the 10 rings or target at a long distance.

before anything, match to a shop to pick up a bow that is compatible with you, I recommend you choose a bow that has thin grip. the thinner the grip the less torque and the less the torque the more accuracy you have at your disposal. I also suggest you remove the grip panels from your bow, doing so will make the the grip to sit firmly against the line of your hand from the thumb to the position around the palm.

When your  bow is at it"s max, it should feel as if it wants to bury itself into your palm. Be calm and relax your grip, and also remember, at a long distance everything is magnified, while pulling always keep an open grip.

ANCHOR:

Having and Anchor point is very crucial to accuracy, look at it like this,no anchor equals no accuracy. It has been proven that good anchor can only be achieved through constant practice, therefore, try shooting a target at a distance from different anchor point until you fined the one that fill natural with you.

BREATHE:

It very common for archers to hold their breathe when their are nervous and intimidated as a result of  increasing their shooting distance, please don"t try this, because doing so will hinder  the free flow of oxygen to the brain, resulting to lose of mental focus and balance. as long as you continue holding  your breathe you will never be able  to hit a bull's eye on your target.

CONFIDENCE IN AIMING AND EXECUTION:

A  professional archer and vice president of Scott Archery and Custom Bow Equipment once said "you cannot command the Elements or Mother nature to bend to your Bow". Meaning the roar of the wind cannot be tamed and other force pf nature, the only thing you can do has man is calculate what is happening around your at that point in time, in order to maximize result is by being compose and confidence.

6.RELEASE:

The release is very important when shooting at a long distance. Mistakes can be made in term of the form or stance used, practice your release until you.

It is no longer a surprise that the release of arrow at long distance is difficult and same time important.

It important to note, while you are at close range it easier to game you target with little to no mistakes. At long range mistakes can be magnified by relaying on the method you normally use to game your target at short distance, that why you need a different approach.

If you ever want to hit that bull's eye at long range. Take for example you at 20 yards shooting with any mistakes, but later took a step back to 30 yards, there will be little to no change to the result achieved. Now imagine moving to a  range of 80 yards using the exact method you will find you aim complete off because of the huge difference in distance.

So remember to use different forms at different position.

7. FOLLOW-THROUGH:

When the arrow is released it very tempting to most archer to put the the bow down or not focus on the shot. Please avoid doing so,let your bow remain where it is, learn from the current form you are using, to by checking if that form needs a little adjust ment or not in in order to perfect your next shot

There a lot of time at your disposal when shooting at long distance to monitor your arrow before it impacts on the target. It not unusual being tempted to to bring down the bow or move their head to the side immediately after releasing the arrow to monitor it. Please don't.

Focusing on the arrow sailing in the air while maintaining the same form might be tasking, but it can be achieved through consistent practice. You maintaining the same foam(s) points out the mistakes and adjustment each foam requires in order reach perfection

Well, that is that, follow this tips, in no time you be a Predators while in the words or an Artemis on the archery field.
