8 Things You Need To Know Before Bow Hunting

The first times I held a bow, I was down on confidence,I didn’t know whether I will be able to muster the courage to be able to shoot a deer. Out respect for my coach at that time I want to make sure my first shot counts.

My first bow came 2 years after, showing you that I was well into practice, around that time I was about to pass my bow hunting education, though I still heard a lot of question for my coach at that time, due to fear and other things I missed out.
When I left, a day came when I was going for my own personal bow hunting, that was where my past mistake of not bring forward my questions struck me hard,i was unsure of everything: what to wear, things to pack, what to do in the woods. Would I be able to climb a tree? How would I feel being out in the woods with no other humans nearby?fortunately through hours of thinking that caused my lots of headache the answer came to me.
Fellow comrades I don’t want you to go through this troublesome experience, some have, which caused them to quit bow hunting, but I don’t want you to miss this blessed experience of being one with nature, that why I am here to share with you my years of knowledge as a professional bow hunter.

1. What Do I Wear ?

People where different things for different environment. but take it from a pro, let the weather be your guide .The moment you fill cold when you step outside, you will soon turn into a popsicle either while sitting on a ground blind or tree climb. so do your self a favor: Shop for clothes and boots that matches the climatic condition of your current hunting ground.
When it comes to colour Camo most might be the standard for majority of bow hunters ,if you know you are not a the majority kind of person I’ll recommended gray looking black and gray clothing can also be an alternative. There are endless choices for men and women, so, you can tailor your clothing colors and patterns, and still blend with the Woods, but prefer the word nature.

2. What Should I Pack ?

Assuming your are hunting with a compound bow, make sure to bring with you the whole setup, sounds easy, have this in mind one missing item can lead to the end of your bow hunting trip before it even begins. Furthermore, ensure you bow is in tune with it’s attached quiver and arrows, and you’ve practiced with it fully rigged.
Have this in mind, never forget to take extra broadhead, broadhead installation/removal tool. primary backup release aids, and a holder for your bow if you use a hook/holder.
Finally,do not forget this important items Kleenex, flashlight, cell phone,
unscented insect repellent, bottled water, warm and sturdy footwear, hand and foot warmers, and weather-appropriate clothing that can be worn in layers. Do remember your hunting license and tags, too, unless you want to have chart with the authorities.

3. How Do I Control My Scent?

Not worry, there are various ways to mask your scent, but I talk about the most common one that even an amateur hunter can carry it out without fail. There lots of products out there that can mask your scent depending on your body chemistry and the kind of animal(s) you are hunting. Buy some unscented products, use them two to three weeks to know Which one matches you before setting out. For example some unscented haircare product are effective than others.
Never use an hair product that gives off a strong or any smell while in the words. Ensure you have an “all purpose” Smell elimination spray and do not were “smelly” clothes in there, make sure to attend to all your wears before not during the hunt.

4. I Am Scared Of Height,Must I Use Tree Stand?

In most cases there is know harm in hunting from a ground blind. Connecticut, however, requires for you as bow hunter to hunt from a tree stands. For not to be in trouble ensure you read the state and local rules and regulation for hunting. Ground blind are good an you improve yourself through practice.
A good way to polish or develop your skill, hang a stand and safety rope at your backyard tree sometime before the hunt. Start practicing while someone watches your progress. Use your harness clip on the rope before climbing. have this in mind “quality” climbing gears keeps your safe while you are off the ground.

5. What Was That Noise?

Probably a squirrel or rabbit. are you serious. In the woods, one can never be certain what producing those noise, but know this, everything, even from the smallest of things to the greatest can produce sounds at high frequency, due to it not being a humans settlement like towns and cities which sometimes spook first timer in the woods .

6. What If Need To Go To The Bathroom?

That why seasoned hunters always tell you to take apple juice and not other juice. it reduces the need to go. You need to stay hydrated,if the urge comes, do not hesitate, whether you on a tree or on the ground. Recent evidence has shown that deer are indifferent to human urine.

7. What If I See a Bear, Wolf, Coyote or Mountain Lion?

To you the truth,I have never ask myself neither have I taken any measure to prevent it,until this happened about an hour into hunting, that was were I saw a pack of coyote about 30 yards ahead of my blind, cornering and attacking a critter, they Yipped, barked, growled and howled it scared and scarred me one of the major thing that actually saved my was my scent elimination spray. As matter of fact most bow hunters go many years and never come across this kind of ” dangerous ” experience while in the woods.
Never go into the woods without a cellphone, tell someone where you are going. It is not where you hunt or what animal you might or will encounter that is the greatest danger, but tripping and falling down a hill. It does not matters how armed you are as long as you instinct tells you it’s not a enough, go with a pepper spray for Peace of mind.

8. Will I Be Bored While In The Woods?

No,you shouldn’t be. You’ll feel at peace, excited, seeing new thing and a rush of adrenaline when animals pass by. Finally, just know this, your first time in the woods while bow hunting whether good or bad will be one of your greatest experiences in life.
