Top 4 Ways To Choose the Right Compound Bow in 2018

It very to go to an Archery store to buy a bow, but walking out of the shop with the right bow could prove to be challenging and confusing  as a result of the numbers of High-Tech bow in the market. Here is where this guide comes in, pointing you in the path by silence the noise and enticement.

1.DOMINANT EYE

The word Dominant Eye can also be referred to as Ocular Dominance. It is important you know the eye your brain prefer receiving visual information than the other. Take me for example my brain prefer the left eye over the right in receiving more input.

According to research the dominant eye is mostly the hand you use in writing, it also not unusual to find people who can use both eyes. People who can use both eyes are either born with it or practice to achieve it. it good to have a dominant eye, but it better to be able to achieve dominance in both eyes.you can determine your eye dominance through this minor simple process.

EYE DOMINANCE
  1. Stretch out both arms, bring your thumbs and forefingers together to form a triangular shape with an opening.
  2. Look through the triangular shape with both eyes, while at same the time focusing it on something, for example a golf-ball.
  3. Finally, close one eye, followed by the other eye, if you find it difficult to close one of your eyes, ask someone to help you cover that eye.
Carefully observe how the golf-ball stays in place or it's well interpreted by the brain in one eye, but becomes unstable or shaky on the other. The eye that is well focused within  the triangular shape is the dominant eye.

It important to note that Archers who have their dominant eye on the right, should shoot right-handed, while all those with left ocular dominance should arrow left-handed.

2.DRAW LENGTH

Draw length is the distance from the hand grip to the bow string when pulled at full drawn. One of the good thing about most compound bow is that they can be adjusted(only to an extent) at an Archery Shop to meet your taste. If you are in bind to choose between a longer and a shorter draw length, go for the shorter length. Why? too much draw length will impact negatively on your speed arrow and accuracy, resulting in poor user experience.

There are two easy way to go about it, either you go to an Archery Shop or have a friend do it for you. In case of the later, this is how to go about it.

Stand upright with both of your arms extended sideways, in a T shape/form. Have him measure your outstretched arms and hands, starting from the point of the middle finger of one hand to the tip of the middle finger at the other hand. divide your total measurement by 2.5 in other to estimate your draw length.

3.AXLE TO AXLE LENGTH

Archer-Meritt-Archeryhood

Let be clear on something, the axle to axle we are talking about is not the the car axle many of you know or heard of. Axle to Axle Length is the overall length of a bow between the upper Cam (the wheel like device attached to both limbs of the bow and also generates power to the bow) to the lower Cam.

Before picking a bow, it is important you know it's overall length.the length of bow plays a part in the kind of task you want it for, be it Target Archery or for Hunting. If you are new to bow-hunting, start out with a longer bow axle, because they are more forgiving while shooting from a long distance while shorter bow though are easier to maneuver, but harder to shoot and needs consistent practice

4.DRAW WEIGHT

It means the amount of power or effort you need to generate to get you bow to full drawn. Why picking a bow with draw weight of 50 pounds or more that has enough power to gun down  whitetails is good, but if you are a newbie, picking out a bow from an Archery Shop, I recommend you test bow from lower to higher pounds until you find the one you can easily and smoothly draw.

There is no special method in determining your permanent draw weight. For instance, you draw weight can be 35 pounds today, come 3 weeks with a enough practice on your arm muscles, it can move up to 45 pounds or more. With the help of great minds in the bow manufacturing industry, your bow can now be adjusted (to an extent) to match your current draw weight at an Archery Store. an higher draw weight equal a faster bow.
